Thoughts from Doris Haas

Hello All,
I want to share two meaningful and exciting events that involve nature and our towns, both of which occurred this week.

I'm fairly new to the garden club and was not involved in Jeannette's attempt to propagate a cutting from the Balmville tree . I joined the group at the tree and was surprised at my feelings. It felt very spiritual to me. And I felt honored to be in the gate where the tree was standing and to have a piece of it to hopefully root. I must add that being born and raised in Newburgh added to the sense of awe.

The second event involved the Appalachian Trail. Warwick was celebrated as a Trail Town and Pawling was today celebrated for the new 1,600 foot boardwalk and bridge-which is able to be used by those who are handicapped(wheelchairs, etc). I happened to know a lot about the Pawling boardwalk, since my husband Bob was very involved with it. The project involved volunteers, the Trail folks,Pawling and even the MetroNorth Railroad, all working together. Love It!!!

Best,
Doris Haas
